Float Fishing Spinning Reel 4K

The 4K Float Fishing Spinning Reel is chosen to balance most spinning rods including our own premium Gapen 10 Float Fishing Rod. This 12 BB (Ball Bearing) reel is suitable for both freshwater and saltwater float fishing.

The 4K Float fishing Spinning reel offers the perfect size for casting, hooking and playing fish while float fishing or using most any live bait. The larger spool allows line to freely release into the air and reduces line coil. The folding handle allows the reel to be transported and stored very easily. The handle can easily be switched to the other side and can be set up as a left-handed or right hand retrieve reel. Simply unscrew the handle knob and reverse the handle (re-attach the handle knob).

This reel is used by our Pro Guide in all his guiding sessions for its performance and fish-fighting abilities. Extra strong bail arm, light, tooled spinning reel spool and anti-reverse switch all make this a premium float fishing reel.

Pro Fish-Fighting Tip: When a big fish is struck with a hook set, simply use your arms to give the fish the beginning of its run. Quickly flip the switch underneath the reel and turn on the anti-reverse (reverse it). This will allow you to let line out at the fish and control the fight. Keep the rod bent slightly and continue to follow the fish with the reel. Reel backwards at the fish when it makes a power run. This will reduce stress on the hook, leader and line. Even with 4 lb. line, using this technique with the smooth 4K, 12 ball bearing float reel, you can take down fish to 20 lb.

Fantastic reel for trout fishing allows for longer casts and quick strikes. Great for crappie, panfish and walleye, bass, perch and the bluegill if you are aiming your float at catching any of these fish.

Pro Line Tip: Recommended Float Fishing Main Line (4 lb. line offers optimal strength and durability to tackle most all fish while float fishing. Fighting properly on a longer rod with good touch, fish to 15 lb. can be landed using a landing net. Lifting of the fish out of the water is avoided to make sure line isn't too stressed. Most weight of a caught fish remains in the water.
