Floating Jig Head

The floating jig head presentation is one of the top live bait rigs for catching all sorts of fish. To make a simple floating jig head rig use a small weight, a swivel and a length of line tied to this floating jig head. Keep your bait exactly where you want it from the bottom – change the length of line to match the distance you want the bait to be from the bottom, or above rocks, weeds or other structure.

If you are fishing drop-offs, from shore, drifting in a boat for catching walleyes, perch, trout, bass, big bluegills and crappies, fishing the floating jig head rig is the answer. Use this with a small minnow, leech, grub, crawler or cricket for great fish-catching presentation.

Simply rig up by putting one sliding weight on your line, then attach a swivel. Tie the length of leader you want to your jig and attach to the other end of the swivel. When you cast out - the bait will suspend off the bottom (the length of your leader line to the swivel)! Simple and very effective.
